Out Of The Box Toys
is a specialty toy site developed
with the goal of encouraging parents
to choose playthings geared toward
fun, imaginative and open-ended play.
In today's mass-market world, children's
toys encourage little or no imagination.
All a child must do is simply press a
button and the toy lights up with noises
galore - the toy instructs the child
how to play rather than the child
using his/her imagination
to play freely.
The idea
behind this website is to
encourage parents to think
'out of the box' when purchasing
their child's playthings and to provide
children with quality toys that support their
constructive play. Too often, we are
limited by what is offered to us through
chain department and toy stores. They are
crammed, aisle after aisle, with too
many single-use toys– toys that
will prove worthless and pricey
in your child’s overall
development.
As a stay-at-home mom,
my wish for my children is
simply that they grow to be happy,
well-rounded beings. My job, then, is to
encourage their growth by creating a place
where their play (or their “work”) is safe,
constructive, and open to the expanse of their
imaginations rather than inhibiting that process with
uninspired, push-button toys that have but a single purpose.
I look forward to those times when my son is playing quietly
but constructively with his wooden blocks, ever so intently
building a new city or tunnel. By trial and error, he learns
which blocks support his purpose and is proud when he
accomplishes his goal. These activities are enjoyable
and natural to him and are much more worthy
of his time (and my money) than a toy that
blasts loud noises for the sole purpose
of blasting loud noises. My son returns
to his blocks time and time again,
with no limits on what
he can build.
Out Of The Box Toys
has been a labor of love for me.
I have enjoyed every moment of
developing my store – from the initial
start-up paperwork to the search for great
toys and gifts. I hope you find that the products
offered here are ones that will inspire imagination
and creativity in your own children. And,
of course, I encourage you to think
‘out of the box’ when searching for
the next great plaything
for your child.

Thanks so much for looking!
